Canon unveils compact travel zoom

Canon has announced the September availability of the PowerShot SX740 HS, which its calling one of the most compact travel zoom cameras to offer 40x optical zoom (24-960mm) currently available.

The pocket-sized travel camera has a DIGIC 8 processor capable of capturing 20.3-megapixel stills, and also 4K UHD video.

Something called ZoomPlus technology allows the 40x optical zoom to ‘digitally extend’ by 80x. (Perhaps fancy terminology for simply zooming in on an area?)

The camera has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, along with a range of auto settings for a point-and-shoot. The Canon Camera Connect iOS and Android app can be used to transfer photo and video.

The camera has 5-axis stabilisation, 10 fps continuous shooting, and fast autofocus.

Oh, and ‘for the fashionably discerning traveller’, the SX740 HS comes in sleek black or stylish silver!

There’s also a 180 degrees flip-up LCD screen that allows people to take flawless selfies.
