Fujifilm has announced its latest underwater compact, the Finepix XP130, which is waterproof to 20m, shockproof to 1.75m, freezeproof and dustproof. Local RRP should be somewhere between $320 and 350. (Local info is not yet available.)
It comes with Bluetooth for transfer to smartphones and tablets via what Fujifilm calls ‘easy paring registration’. It has a small-area 16.4 megapixel, back-illuminated CMOS sensor sensor. Lens is 5x zoom starting at 28mm. It weighs just 207g Video is at Full HD at 60 fps. There is a macro mode down to 9cm.
The LCD is ‘a large’ 3-inches, and 920K resolution. (Note to PR people – you can’t have a ‘large 3-inch’ anything. Three inches is three inches.)
A new Electronic Level assists with composition while an Eye Detection feature helps to capture portraits easily by automatically focusing on the eyes of the subject. The XP130 also has a Cinemagraph mode, which produces still images with moving elements; a time-lapse video; and a bust mode of up to 10 frames per second.
It comes in a range of five colours, but it’s not yet confirmed if each of these are coming to this market
