Fujifilm in the US and elsewhere has announced the XF10, a particularly compact digital compact camera – just 280g – with an 24-megapixel APS-C sensor.
It shoots up to 30 minutes in 4K, and high-speed Full HD video.
It has a Fujinon 18.5mm f2.8 fixed lens (equivalent to a 28mm lens in 35mm terms), with a ‘digital teleconverter’ for shooting at 35mm and 50mm equivalent focal lengths as well.
The LCD is 3-inch/1.04-million-dot touchscreen. There is no EVF – a hard-to-sell failing in a premium compact camera. It’s the first Fujifilm X Series camera to offer ‘Square Mode’, which lets you shoot 1:1 aspect ratio photos with a flick of the touchscreen. They can be transferred to a smartphone via Bluetooth and from there be transferred to Instagram.
ISO range is from 200-12,800 (expandable to 100-51200), and there are 11 film simulations and 19 Advanced Filters.
It’s available in the US from August in a choice of Black or Champagne Gold, where it will have a recommended price of US$500 – which would equate to $750 incl GST in Australia. No word from Fujifilm, but the apparent local RRP is $799.
