New DSLRs from Canon

(UPDATED June 28): Detailed rumours of Canon launching the EOS 6D Mark II, the EOS 200D, a new entry level DSLR to replace the EOS 100D, and a new fast prime 85mm lens are circulating with increasing confidence on photo news aggregation sites around the world. (And are now confirmed.)

Someone, somewhere seems to be feeding incremental details on the 6D MkII to an always hungry, rarely discriminating rumour mill on a regular basis. These controlled leaks are used as a marketing PR tactic to extend exposure for a product announcement. Canon has form here, and this looks like that sort of duck!

The 6D Mk II has an all-new 26-megapixel full frame CMOS sensor, and a US$2000 body-only US suggested retail price.

The full specs came out a couple of days before the ‘official launch’:

One local retailer already has the 6D advertised for $2999 (confirming our guess), with a price of $4179 with a 24-70mm f4 lens, $3579 with a 24-105mm lens and $6159 with a 16-35mm f2.8 lens.
