New ‘DX’ flagship D7500 from Nikon

Nikon Australia has announced June release of its new flagship APS-C DSLR, the D7500.
No local price has been supplied. US suggested retail price is US$1250 body only and $1750 with Nikkor 18-140mm f3.5-5,6 lens.

‘Intended to inspire emerging photographers and videographers, the new D7500 builds on the DNA of our DX-format flagship D500 and the same high-performance EXPEED 5 image-processing engine to deliver a significantly improved addition to the Nikon stable,’ said James Murray, managing director, Nikon Australia. ‘In an improved camera body we have combined 4K UHD video recording with outstanding low-light and subject acquisition capabilities for capturing still images to provide a refined photography experience.’

The D7500 is equipped with the same high-performance EXPEED 5 image-processing engine and Nikon DX-format 20.9 megapixel CMOS sensor as the D500.

It has a 180K-pixel RGB sensor, which increases the accuracy of automatically controlled functions such as AF, AE and auto white balance. It has faster image processing and a larger memory buffer, which enable high-speed continuous capture of up to 50 shots per burst of around 8 fps (14-bit lossless compressed RAW) shooting.

The camera is slimmer and lighter than its predecessor with a deep grip for a superior hold and portability. It is also compatible with SnapBridge, which enables constant connection of the camera to an Apple or Android smart device.
