New NZ industry association created!

The New Zealand photo industry has a new industry association  – the Imaging Association of New Zealand (IANZ), open to all NZ companies and individuals ‘that have an interest in imaging.’

Mary
Maryanne Dransfield presents long-serving PMA NZ executive Graham Boswell (Snapshots Hamilton) with a gift to acknowledge his commitment over 25 years. Graham has decided to step down from committee responsibilities but has put his full support behind the new IANZ team.

At the outset the IANZ  will ‘focus on facilitating opportunities for people in the industry to network and discuss successes in the competitive market sector.’

An inaugural committee has been elected by current members of the IANZ:
President: Karen Chadderton
Vice-President: Ken Newell
Secretary/Treasurer: Maryanne Dransfield
Committee: Jack Culverwell, Phillip Glamuzina, Brian Kearney and Rochelle Mora (with one more to be confirmed)

A photo industry meeting was held this month at which PMA New Zealand was officially wound up after 35 years and the new group formed.

‘Our goal is to disseminate timely information and provide forums contributing to increased profitability, business growth and a sense of community for the global imaging and related industries,’ the first newsletter from IANZ stated.

The meeting also provided a platform to award industry stalwart Bruce McAneaney the first Lifetime Membership of IANZ. Now retired, Bruce worked for 49 years for Macalisters.

Next meeting of the new group is July 13. Three enthusiastic presenters and an interactive forum should make for a lively night. The meeting is free to attend and the IANZ encourages store owners to bring staff along.

Brian Kearney will present on technology and how to optimise this at retail, Jack Culverwell’s topic is ‘Quality – diversify or die’ and Ken Newell will present on ‘upping the game’ and injecting some excitement back into the retail side of the industry

The meeting is at UCOL, Level 3, 178 Broadway, Newmarket, July 13.

It’s 6 for a 6.30 start and out of there by 8pm.

    Good luck
We hope that it goes better than the reformation of the Australian association much trumpeted from the northern states earlier this year.
The fanfare was reduced to a whimper
