Nikon has announced three new lenses to be in store on July 16: the AF-S Nikkor DX 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR, AF-S Nikkor 500 mm f/4E FL ED VR and AF-S Nikkor 600mm f/4E FL ED VR.Three
Nikon says the 16-80mm is the world’s lightest DX-format lens. It features a ‘Nano Crystal Coat’ and includes aspherical and Extra-low Dispersion (ED) lens elements as well as a fluorine coating applied to the outer surfaces of the front and rear lens elements to repel dust, water droplets, grease or dirt. Vibration Reduction (VR) provides up to four stops of shutter speed advantage. It also has the first electromagnetic aperture mechanism for auto-exposure control in a DX-format lens.
The 500mm and 600mm primes for use with full frame sensor Nikon bodies are also lightest of their type according to Nikon. The 500mm is 3090g while the 600mm is 3810g (600mm). The feature fluorite lens elements, Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass and Nano Crystal Coat. The VR system includes ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’ modes.
Fluorine coatings are applied to the glass at the front of the lens for protection against dirt, water droplets and or grease.
