Beefed-up ‘Son of Nik’ editing app
Google has released a beefed up new version of its free Snapseed photo editing app for smartphones tablets. Snapseed 2 provides ‘the power and control of professional photo editing software, previously only available on the desktop.’ It’s reviewed as one of the best photo editing apps out there – and it’s based on Nik software, which Google acquired and then removed from the market as a suite of software products.
Snapseed 2 is a major upgrade, which features a ‘non-destructive workflow’ – if you mess up an edit it’s not irrecoverable – you can go back to where you started.
New tools including lens blur, tonal contrast, intelligent perspective transform, and spot healing. Filters can now be selectively applied to parts of the image using the brush tool.
It’s available in in both iOS and Android versions.
Epson revealed that color prints made with UltraChrome HD pigment ink on Epson’s Premium Luster, Exhibition Fiber and Ultra Smooth Fine Art papers would last for over 200 years if properly stored, based on Wilhelm’s testing.
Epson also claimed that black-and-white prints created with the UltraChrome HD ink using the SureColor’s advanced black-and-white print mode could hit the 400 year mark if properly stored.
Epson said the preliminary results indicate that the new UltraChrome HD inkset is delivering twice the longevity ratings as the previous generation ink.
The Surecolor range is gradually replacing its Stylus Pro photo printers, with a 17-inch P800 recently flagged for release later in the year
It’s the the fifth premium wide aperture lens to be added to the Fujinon range. The new lens weighs 375 grams and has a minimum working distance for macro photography of 15cm.
