Polaroid distributor Brands Australia has announced local availability of the Polaroid Zip mobile printer.
The Polaroid Zip mobile printer pairs wirelessly to any smartphone or tablet and using a dedicated mobile app available for both iOS or Android, allows users to instantly print 2×3-inch colour photos from virtually any image on their Apple or android device.
‘Instantly sharing life’s special moments is what Polaroid’s legacy and heritage are all about, ‘ said John Rule, managing director, Brands Australia. ‘Our smartphones are always with us and have become an important device consumer’s reach for to capture life’s most memorable moments. Some photos are uploaded to social networks and shared with others digitally; however, there will always be a need to share and show actual “physical” photos.
‘The new Polaroid Zip mobile printer doesn’t just streamline and simplify the process, it makes it as much fun as sharing an image online. That’s why we’re excited to bring the “updated” version of the Polaroid experience to a new generation of consumers in Australia and New Zealand.’
Approximately the size of a smartphone, the Polaroid Zip mobile printer weighs just 186g and measures 7.4x12cm” – and is less than one inch thick – and boasts a striking high-gloss finish augmented by the iconic Polaroid Color Spectrum logo. The only physical control is a power button. The Polaroid Zip mobile printer features a free app for iOS and Android and connects to mobile devices via Bluetooth 4.0 or NFC.
These dedicated apps are full-featured and give users the ability to be creative and enhance their prints. Users can capture a photo or select and edit an image from their gallery, applying a wide range of creative filters, effects and controls, including:
Enhancements to brightness, contrast, saturation and tint as well as 12 colour filters including sepia, retro and HDR.
A collage mode that allows users to feature up to nine images on one single print.
The ability to draw in various colours using the paint mode as well as the use of frames, stickers, stamps, emojis and animations to make the image stand out.
A business card creator allows users to choose from several templates and add in their image and personal info for a creative ‘leave behind’.
There’s an option to make edits private and only viewable using the app’s ‘secret view mode’. Secret view will print the original photo with an individual QR code that, when scanned, will reveal the final image complete with add-ons and creative effects.
ZINK Zero Ink Printing
The Polaroid Zip uses unique ink-free Zero Ink Printing technology developed by ZINK Imaging. The key to the ink-free system is the patented ZINK paper, a composite material embedded with cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals and with a protective polymer overcoat. Before printing, the dye crystals are colourless, so the paper look like regular white photo paper. The ZINK-enabled Printer uses heat to activate and colour these crystals. The result is full-colour, high quality, long-lasting and smudge-proof images without ink cartridges, ribbons or toner.
The 2×3-inch photo prints in just under a minute. Additionally, because the ZINK paper is adhesive backed the photo can be used as a sticker.
The Polaroid Zip mobile printer includes an internal, rechargeable lithium-ion battery that’s capable of printing up to 25 ZINK photos on a single charge.
The Polaroid Zip mobile printer is available now for a recommended retail price of $199.99. For more information, please visit http://www.polaroid.com.au. In New Zealand, Polaroid is distributed by Endurance Distributors on behalf of Brands New Zealand. NBZ RRP is NZ$239.95.
Film packs are the same as for the Polaroid Socialmatic and the Z2300 digital cameras.
