New Leica APS-format CSC

Leica has announced the Leica T, a new mirrorless interchangeable camera designed in collaboration with Audi Design and manufactured from a solid aluminium block.

Leica-T-SystemIt features a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and integrated Wi-Fi module for transfer of photos and videos to a smartphone, tablet or computer. A free Leica T app for iOS devices is available for sharing files on social networking sites.

The Leica T is accompanied by accessories available in four colours, along with a range of bags and cases, also via Audi Design.

The Leica T is available May 26 from authorised Leica dealers. As the camera features a new lens mount, only two lenses be available at launch – the Leica Vario-Elmar-T 18–56 mm f3.5–5.6 ASPH and the Leica Summicron-T 23mm f2 ASPH. (It will accept Leica M-mount lenses via an adaptor.)

RRPs are as follows: Leica T (Typ 701) body (in silver or black) – $2300; Leica Summicron-T 35mm f2 lens – $2500; Leica Vario-Elmar-T  18-56mm f3.5-5.6 lens – $2300.  (US manufacturer’s price for the Leica T is US$1850)

    Now that I know it’s a AUDI design I will wait for the Porsche Designed Leica , although the T is a Leica M-240 for the Girls with Chinese made Coloured Covers & straps to match their shoes & handbags..
