DES has announced a new and easy-to-use, entry-level colour calibration device, the $139 X-Rite ColorMunki Smile.
The ColorMunki Smile is targetted at photo and design enthusiasts wanting an easy way to colour correct their computer monitors. It includes a colour measurement device and very simple software. With a wizard-based user interface that uses graphics and video animation, users just need to follow the on-screen instructions that walk them through the calibration process. Users don’t need to know anything about colour science to get good quality results, according to X-Rite.
Using the same colour profile technology as X-Rite’s professional-level colour calibration products, ColorMunki Smile provides colour accuracy on commonly used LED and LCD displays.
Users can also calibrate multiple monitors to accurately show colours. ColorMunki Smile software automatically detects when multiple monitors are connected to a single Mac or PC computer and allows users to colour correct each one.
