Blond Robot has won the rights to distribute the ground-breaking Lytro light field camera in Australia, with product in stores from October 10.
Photo Counter was the first Australian website to report on Lytro, back in June last year. The Lytro camera lets users select the focal point of an image after capture – what Lytro calls ‘shoot now, focus later.’
The Lytro camera began shipping in March in the US.
The small telescope-like camera offers 8x optical zoom and a fast f2 lens to create interactive, living pictures that can be ‘endlessly refocused’.
The Lytro Desktop application (also available as a free software download), which imports pictures from camera to computer, is included with the camera.
The Lytro camera comes in two models: the 8GB in blue or grey stores approximately 350 pictures ($499) and the 16GB in red stores approximately 750 pictures ($599). Available for Mac OS X and Windows operating systems.
