Polaroid Z340 instant digital camera

The exhibition rooms will be open from 1 – 9pm, with the extended times tailored to suit busy retailers and their staff unable to leave the store during business hours.

‘Dealers are free to come at a time suitable to them during the day or night. Where possible and practical we would love to see any store staff, if owners wish them to attend as well,’ said APS sales and marketing manager, Shane Martin.

This year APS, having taken over local distributorship of Polaroid photographic products from Hagemeyer towards the end of 2011, will be launching the new Polaroid Z340 Instant Digital Camera, as well as showing the full range of Polaroid instant products, biometric passport camera and printers.

Other products on show, most with hands-on demonstrations, will include:

Steadycam Smoothee from Tiffen

APS sublimation products – instore gifting systems;
Unibind premium photo book system;
ChannelBind photo book system;
Kodak scanners and printing systems; APEX drylabs;  D4000 and DL2100 duplex printers for producing photo books; consumer and professional products;
APS frames, albums and camera bags;
Photo packaging;
Noritsu silver halide minilabs;
Tiffen products – including the all new ‘Go Pro friendly’ Smoothee, developed by SteadyCam;
Pacific Image film and slide scanners.

‘Among the highlights are a new commercial scanner from Scanace, the PrimeFilm 120,” said Mr Martin. ‘This unit is primarily for in-store use to add to the growing profitable services category. It allows scanning of single negatives or strips up to and including 6 x 12cm.

‘We have been reselling the Pacific Image 35mm film and slide models in Australia since November 2011 and these have surprised us as good sellers to the trade – and also to photo enthusiasts via our dealer network.’

(The withdrawal of Nikon and Canon from the enthusiast/pro scanner market, as noted by in a comment by  John Swainston, Maxwell International,  last week in Photo Counter, has opened the field for quality alternatives in this category.)

Mr Martin said that the new Tiffen Steadycam Smoothee can be used with the popular new Go Pro range of active lifestyle cameras; the  Apple iPhone 3GS and 4; the Flip MinoHD video camera; or the iPod Touch (Gen 4). Additional models will follow.

‘We look forward to talking to store owners and operators about the current retail market conditions and how APS can assist them to continue to operate profitably going forward,’ he added. ‘In particular via our growing range of sublimation (gifting) and wide format solutions and products.’

At this stage APS hasn’t confirmed whether it will be taking space at the consumer-oriented ‘The Digital Show’ at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in late May. For retailers, the APS roadshow series will be the best opportunity to view the expanded APS portfolio and talk to the APS team.

    The team from Australian Photo Supplies and Polaroid look forward to seeing many old friends and new at these events over the next months. South Australia dealers, we have had to change the night to Tuesday 27th March 2012. Same times and still at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Hindmarsh Square, just one night earlier, thanks
