Website content service launched for photo industry

September 1, 2011: Specialist publisher to the photo industry, Media Publishing, is now offering customised content to businesses wanting to establish or improve their website presence.

The Media Publishing writing team have, for over 10 years, produced a quarterly enthusiast’s magazine, Photo Review Australia; Australia’s first and most popular enthusiasts’ website www.photoreview.com.au; a series of how-to booklets on all aspects of digital capture and printing; plus a broad range of custom hard copy and eBook-style publications for clients such as Epson and Canon.

They are now available to produce compelling, ‘purpose-built’ content for photo industry websites for both retailers and distributors.

‘Spending a king’s ransom on Google Ads, or Search Engine Optimisation and other technical fixes will initially attract website visitors,’ said Media Publishing managing director, David O’Sullivan, ‘But there’s no match for compelling, unique and regularly refreshed content to attract and engage the right customers, encourage them to link to your newsletter database – and return time and again.’

‘Clients can select from the most extensive and thorough range of product reviews produced in Australia today, photo tips, profiles, or case studies to fit the style and tone of their website.

‘The pattern usually is to attempt to fulfil all the website content requirements in-house,’ said Mr O’Sullivan. ‘This can work for a while but becomes a massive time sink for the non-specialist staff member responsible – taking them away from their “real job”.

‘Eventually the site becomes a bit stale, and updating content more of a tedious chore – putting aside the time needed to continually source fresh material.’

Media Publishing is also one of Australia’s leading creators of ‘Reflow Ebooks’ (sample layout left) which can be created as stand-alone productions (and easily printed for hard copy versions) or embedded on the client’s website. (See separate story.)

‘The Media Publishing team’s unique combination of photographic knowledge, writing skills and publishing experience makes us the people to go to when a little “wordsmithing plus” is required,’ said Mr O’Sullivan.

‘With copyright to a wealth of existing educational, technical and feature content, which can be quickly and inexpensively re-purposed to specific lengths and styles for client’s websites, and the knowledge and ability to deliver to a specific brief that “generalist” writers may not fully understand, we believe there is no other business with our capabilities in Australia,’ he added.

The Media Publishing ‘content team’ consists of Margaret Brown, technical editor of Photo Review and author of a series of 18 photographic Pocket Guides, Photo Review editor Don Norris and ‘Products & Trends’ editor (and editor of this website), Keith Shipton.
