Picpress launches new photobook business

May 18, 2011: Picpress, the photobook-making business of Victorian-based pro lab Nulab, has launched a more consumer-oriented photo gifting business under the brand, ‘Picbook‘ (www.picbook.com.au).

Picbook complements Nulab’s existing Picpress business, which makes premium photo books for professional photographers. Picbook offers photobooks, calendars, greeting cards and post cards to emerging professionals, advanced amateurs and consumers seeking premium quality photobook products. .

Director Michael Warshall told printing industry magazine ProPrint that Picbook was created to meet growing demand from customers who wanted photo products without the complexity.

‘More and more people would see the quality of our books and they would try to use Picpress, but it was too complicated and high-end for them,’ he told ProPrint.

‘We decided to launch a simplified version with click-and-drag software, fewer stock and size options and an easier user interface.’

The Picbook software and website was developed internally, and is fully automated through to the printing stage.

Work is produced on an Indigo 5500 digital press in-house.
