Fujifilm flags new dry lab

March 6, 2011: The new Fujifim Frontier DL600 dry minilab system will be available in Australia and New Zealand from June this year.

The Frontier DL600 is equipped with a five-colour ink head (C, M, Y, K and Light Blue) and Fujifilm image processing technology, ‘Image Intelligence’. (Fujifilm has reverted to in-house manufacture of minilab equipment, having for several years outsourced manufacture to competitor, Noritsu.)

Fujifilm says the new printer is matched to Fujifilm Quality Inkjet Paper, developed to ‘maximise the different coloured inks’.

‘The Frontier DL600 has a processing capability of 650 sheets per hour (4 x 6-inch at 720 dpi), as well as a 1440 dpi high quality print mode,’ said Daniel Paul, Fujifilm senior category manager, Hardware. Print sizes range from 3.5 x 5-inch to 12 x 48-inch.

(Nearest competitor to the DL600 in dry labs, the Noritsu D1005HR, can output 950 prints per hour and also offers a 1440dpi print mode.)

‘The ink cartridge capacity is 700ml per cartridge, reducing the frequency of consumable changes,’ said Mr Paul.

The unit requires access from only the front and left hand side, allowing the Frontier DL600 to be placed in a corner, and thus reducing the overall operational footprint of the unit.

Setting different paper types and checking the condition of the printer has been simplified with the addition of an operation panel on the front of the printer.

Other Frontier DL600 key features:
– Automatic nozzle check function;
– Double roll paper loading facility;
– Sorter capacity for up to ten 8×12-inch orders;
– Compatible inkjet paper available in both glossy and lustre (4-, 5- and 6-inch widths in 180m lengths; 8-, 10- and 12-inch widths in 100m lengths)
