Digital Polaroid Instant announced

Polaroid has announced February local release of the Polaroid Z340 camera, which combines digital capture with instant printing technology.

The Polaroid Z340 camera mimics the instant experience of classic Polaroid Land cameras, with some modern enhancements.

Photos can be cropped and edited in the camera prior to printing. Photos are automatically saved in the camera or on an SD card for quick and easy download to a computer or upload to social media sites.

The Z340 incorporates ZINK printing technology, which uses three layers of dye crystals that are activated and coloured by heat. The Z340’s 3×4-inch white paper transforms into a crisp colour image in a matter of seconds. Once printed, the Z340’s photos are immediately dry and water-, smudge- and tear-resistant.

Photos can be printed with either the classic Polaroid white border format, a variety of border temnplates, or borderless. Users can also design their own borders using a Z340 app.

The Z340 comes with 10 sheets of ZINK Photo Paper, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, an adapter/charger, USB cable and a hand strap. The product is available in February 2012, for an RRP of $399.99.

‘We’re excited by the release of the Z340 instant digital camera, that combines all the feel and looks of the iconic Polaroid Instant cameras, whilst moving to the next generation of ZINK technology,’ said John Rule, general manager, Polaroid Imaging Australasia.

  1. Don’t laugh, I think we all did with the current tiny photos from the Polaroid 300 but consumers think otherwise. i wont make the same mistake again, I have ordered 5 already, along with 10 more Polaroid 300 and a couple of boxes of film. We “smart” retailers may laugh but if consumers want it, i want to stock it.
