DayMen acquires JOBY

August 28, 2011: Maxwell International has announced the signing of an agreement by parent company, DayMen Group in the US, to acquire JOBY.

JOBY designed the iconic GorillaPod flexible tripod and has since expanded its brand with the innovative GorillaMobile and GorillaTorch product lines.

Maxwell has distributed JOBY in Australia since 2008, and DayMen has also distributed JOBY in Canada since 2007.

‘DayMen and JOBY share a passion for creativity, superior functionality, constant innovation and a commitment to growing the brands we own and the brands we distribute,’ stated the accompanying press release.

“We have had the privilege of growing the JOBY brand here in Australia for the past three years,’ said Maxwell managing director, John Swainston. ‘Tens of thousands of JOBY Gorillapod camera supports are in daily use, as are a growing number of GorillaMobile supports for Apple iPad and iPhone devices.

‘DayMen and JOBY working together is doubtless going to bring further innovative lifestyle electronics and photo accessories, all of which is good news for consumers and Australian retailers alike.’
