August 18, 2010: Nikon Australia has announced the release of the Coolpix S5100 and the mini projector-equipped Coolpix S1100pj.
The S5100 features a small area (1/2.3-inch) 12.2-megapixel sensor and a wide-angle 5x optical zoom lens.
It features motion detection, lens shift vibration reduction (VR) and high sensitivity flash control, and is being promoted as a good model for night-time shooting.
A new image-processing engine has been developed for the S5100 which Nikon says offers support for high sensitivities: ‘Superior noise-reduction processing technology reduces noise and ensures excellent image quality in pictures taken at sensitivities up to ISO 1600 with automatic ISO sensitivity adjustment, and up to ISO 3200 with manual ISO sensitivity specification.’
It also automatically detects hand-held or tripod-mounted shooting to provide the optimum response according to lighting conditions.
Other features include high definition movie recording, high-speed power up and Nikon’s Smart Portrait feature for more pleasing portraits.
It’s available in silver, black and red at an RRP of $299.00.
The Nikon Coolpix S1100pj, offers brighter projection and a larger touch screen monitor than its predecessor, the Coolpix S100pj. The camera also comes with PC input, enabling instant projection of computer data.
Projection brightness has been increased by 40 percent and a 460k-dot, 3-inch TFT LCD touch-screen monitor has been added. With the touch of a button, the camera projects data, photos or movie clips on any flat surface at up to 47 inches in size. Pictures can be projected individually, or as slide shows complete with music and added effects.
A range of creative filter effects can also be applied to image files.
It has a 5x optical zoom and a 14-megapixel (1/2.3-inch) sensor.
Available in silver and black. RRP is $499.00
