September 9, 2010: Garage Brands (www.garagebrands.com.au) has announced its appointment as distributor in Australia and New Zealand of the Gary Fong range of products.
Gary Fong is an award-winning US wedding/portrait photographer who in 2002, after 20 years in the studio, moved from shooting to developing photographic flash accessories.
His original invention, the Lightsphere light diffuser, was developed as a solution for unflattering images from direct, harsh on-camera flash lighting. The Lightsphere is basically a specially coloured diffusing ‘dome’ that is held in place over the flash unit.
It enables photographers to create subtle, studio-quality lighting effects in the field with basic camera-and-speedlite set-ups.
It has sold over 500,000 units worldwide, laying a sound foundation for what’s developed into an innovative accessory business.
Fong has since developed variations on the dome-shaped Lightsphere such as ‘The Origami’ and a solution for DSLR pop-up flash called ‘The Puffer’ (which should prove an excellent add-on for DSLR sales). Recently the Lightsphere has been updated to the ‘Lightsphere Collapsible’.

Gary Fong products are designed and manufactured in the USA. Inventory of the complete range of products and kits is expected in Australia early next month.
