$299 actioncam from Panasonic

At just 45 grams and 3.3-inches long, the Panasonic HX-A1 Wearable Action Camera captures 1080p footage of action sports and adventures.
Panasonic-HX-A1It is waterproof to depths of 1.5m without an additional housing, shockproof from drops up to 1.5m, dustproof (IP6X), and freeze-proof to temperatures as low as 10 degress Celsius.

It comes with a tripod mount and a multi-mount for attaching to goggles, shoulder bags, or helmets. A range of optional mounts and accessories are also available for helmet, bike, board, or other gear. (See full press release below.)

The A1 incorporates a 2.87 effective megapixel, 1/3-inch MOS sensor that supports 1080p30 video with AAC audio recorded to microSD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. Slow-motion is at 720p video and 60fps or 848×480 resolution video at 120fps. Video is automatically converted to 30p internally, so the slow-motion footage is immediately viewable without having to conform it in post.

Lens is a wide 2.6mm f2.8, with focusing to 30cm. For night-time shooting, the camera has a ‘0 Lux Night Mode’ – an IR lens that allows the camera to see in complete darkness when used with an optional IR light source.

The Panasonic Image App supports WiFi and a ‘wireless twin camera’ function that lets you send a video feed from your A1 to a compatible Panasonic camera for simultaneous, dual-angle picture-in-picture recording. The HX-A1 can also be used as a webcam when connected via the micro-USB, which is also used to charge the camera’s internal 480mAh battery. (Over two hours battery life)

Available in late June, the Panasonic HX-A1 Wearable Action Camera has an RRP of $299.
